I was born into a family of hunting enthusiasts in Namibia and my late grandpa, Alan Gibson Chapman, set the bar very high in the 1930s. He hunted one of the biggest Giant sable (endemic to Angola) that exceeded 64inches – a very high standard for me to follow.
I started shadowing my father on many hunting trips in and around our family ranch when I was a kid. What memories. What a way to grow up. After finishing school in 2007, I started my apprenticeship as a big game hunting in Botswana. My passion for dangerous game hunting could not have found a better fit – right in the epicenter of elephant hunting as it was then in Africa under the leadership of legendary professional hunter, Arthure Vickerman.
I returned to Namibia in 2012, and in 2016, I started hunting the Caprivi Strip in northern Namibia. Based until 2022, I hunted dangerous game in various concessions, including well-known Bwabwata East National Park.
This is where I developed my love of photography – my way of sharing two things with the world. Firstly, the wonder of what I experienced each day in my ‘office.’ And secondly, my way of paying tribute to the magnificent trophy we had just hunted. Respect.
Today, I’m based on our family ranch in the east of Namibia fortunate to have done a full circle, returning with more experience. This is where I hunt most of my plains game.
