Johan Calitz safaris (pty) ltd was formed in 1987 in Botswana as a sole proprietorship by Johan Calitz.
Since then the business grew from a one-man operation, and in 2000 consisted of 5 concession areas with 7 hunting camps, with the head office in Maun, Botswana to help with logistics, paperwork and procurement. In 2014 when hunting was closed, it employed 180 people.
JCS’ mission was always to create realistic expectations, address all possible grey areas, and stick to the contractual agreement.
Botswana lifted the ban on hunting in 2020, but because of the Covid virus no hunting took place in Botswana. Our vision is to once again unite with our old clients and new friends to spend time together during the day and at the campfire at night, and to give them the experience we provided up to 2014.
Botswana was always known for its big tuskers. We have a healthy quota of elephant, leopard, buffalo, and a range of antelope on quota in ng42, and in Mababe community, and are looking forward to continuing our relationship with the community to their benefit and growth as well. JCS also has a concession area in Niassa in Mozambique.
The management team consists of Johan Calitz, Wikus Groenewald and Andrew Walker.
