In one of my life’s worst coincidences, on 24 March 2013, my best friend Eileen died in my arms in Atlanta at the same time as Muslim Séléka rebels were storming the presidential palace of Central African Republic president “elect,” François Bozizé. I could not help but see the symbolism of the timing, as if Eileen were warning my husband, PH Rudy Lubin, from beyond. (See Speaks Out! in this same issue.)
